Attendees: Craig Morrison (American Forest Management, Inc.), Phyllis Morrison (Pilot Club), Bobby Page (Page Enterprises), Sammie Jordan (Connect Realty), Page Ambrose (Conway National Bank), Jeannie Richardson ( Richardson’s Investment), Jimmie Dyson (Palmetto Insurance), Joseph Childs (self).

The meeting was held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday June 22, 2009 at the Hagood House in Aynor, S.C. Craig Morrison was appointed to preside over the meeting, since Jeremy Johnson had out of town business. Everyone was welcomed and thanked for attending.

Meeting Minutes: The meeting minutes for April 2009 and May 2009 were reviewed and approved.

2009 Chamber Budget: A proposed Chamber budget for 2009 was presented for review and approval to the members present. The members voted to accept and approve the proposed budget.

Membership Application Approval Form: A form to be used to record membership application approvals or rejections by the Board of Directors was presented to the members present. The members were reminded that new membership applications must be approved by the Board of Directors before the applicant can be seated as a member.

Use of 2009 Local Accommodations Money: The members present were informed that the Chamber plans to use this year’s local Accommodations money to advertise the Aynor Harvest Hoe-Down Festival in the Wilmington Star News. The ads would be run on a weekly basis starting in July. This plan to use the local Accommodations tax money was approved by the members present. Bobby Page suggested looking into advertising the festival on television.

Golf Tournament Report: Jimmy Dyson spoke briefly about the golf course and the number of teams in the tournament. Craig Morrison then presented a preliminary financial report for the golf tournament . The members present were told that a tie for second place resulted from the voting on the scholarship applications. Rather than having another round of voting, it was decided to sponsor one $1500.00 scholarship and two $1000.00 scholarships. This proposal to sponsor three scholarships in 2009 was approved by the members present.

Christmas Fund Project: Jimmy Dyson said that he would try to get the project started earlier this year.

Food Drives: Joseph Childs mentioned that some of the local churches were sponsoring food drives and suggested that the Chamber may want to get involved in this effort to help the needy. There was some further discussion but no decision was made for the Chamber to get actively involved in the food drives.

There was no further business, and the meeting was adjourned.
